Medical Student-itis?
Monday, August 29th, 2005 at 12:46 pm
So when I went scuba diving yesterday, I cut my fingers on the jagged edge of the wreck. Today my arm feels heavy, and it seems slightly harder to breath… So is it tetanus, or pyschosomatic medical student-itis, yet again? You decide.
I may just go down to the clinic to get a Tetanus booster, just in case…

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. EMedicine puts the mortality rate at only 6-8% for my age group/vaccination status, but mechanical ventilation is required for 67% of patients. (This isn’t broken down by age, and my guess is this statistic is heavily skewed by the elderly with the much higher mortality.)
In any case, I got the tetanus booster. Now my arm hurts from that.
