Ugh, the temptation is killing me. I was talking with a friend from the ambulance corps tonight when she said they'd "love to have" me for the Fourth of July Parade/Standby/other festivities. Unfortunately, that statement, coupled with a pretty bad case of "rock fever" from being stuck on an island for the past 5 and 1/2 months (see countdown timer to the right), somehow computed in my brain to mean I should fly home for the weekend. I started looking at flights, and the cheapest I could find was $1,050. I rationalized this with the fact that I could be reimbursed the majority of the fare using my ambulance corps incentive points. (Though I think I've spent those incentive points at least 5 times over this year.)

Yes, I was about to spend over a thousand dollars to 1) go home (when I am scheduled to leave for summer vacation not two weeks later), and 2) do volunteer EMS. I am sick, please help me…
