Google Ads are Back

I took down the Google Ads because they were annoying me. However, now I have found a method so I, as well as anyone that has registered/logged in, doesn't have to look at them.

If you would like to get rid of the ads, you can register here.

Hopefully the ads will bring in a little bit of cash, or at least enough to pay for hosting this site. :-)

My hosting costs $33 a year, and after 6 months, I have $18 in my google account. So I’m optimistic. But at that rate, it will be a couple of years until I get the $100 to actually get paid.

Carsten Says:

Yeah, during my test run a few months ago, revenues weren’t all that great, but every little bit helps. Now that I have found a solution where I, or my registered users, don’t have to see them, it’s even better :-)

sonja Says:

how much does it cost anyway? and how much do the ads pay?

Carsten Says:

Hosting all 5 websites costs around $95/year. The ads pay a varying amount when they get clicked, but I can’t tell you how much, since that would be in violation of the terms of service.

Sonja Says:

for real? you know but arent allowed to tell? does anyone actually click on them? and 5 sites? i thought we had 3 in our family?

Carsten Says:

Well, according to the new terms of service, they are now allowing me to “… accurately disclose the amount of Google’s gross payments to You pursuant to the Program,” which is all of 84 cents. Amount of money per click and the number of people that click are still confidential.

Yup, 5 sites — the three family sites, the main aggregator site, and the Emergency Medicine Club site (which I am donating hosting for, since it didn’t cost me any extra).
