Room Service

Me, still half asleep:
"Who is it?"
Unknown voice:
"Room service"
Me:
"I don't remember ordering, but breakfast in bed sounds nice."
Much to my dismay, the unknown voice was not a waiter with a cart full of food, but rather a maintenance man with a bucket full of caulk guns. Had I actually been awake enough, I would have realized that the school dorms don't offer room service, and would have translated the Grenadian.
Good news: One thing got fixed. The multiple cracks in my wall (and those in the room down the hall with the same problem) are now caulked with silicone. Let's see if that stops the lake forming on my floor whenever it rains. I also now know why there are so many cracks in my wall. To summarize: 1) Crappy pre-fab construction that utilizes too few workers to pour the concrete all at the same time. Interfaces where new concrete meets old concrete = cracks. I was assured though that the multiple cracks in my ceiling do not indicate imminent building collapse. 2) The owner of the company does not offer profit-sharing, hence no incentive to do a good job.
Bad news: There are many, many things still left to fix, including a dryer that squeaks so much that it can be heard throughout the building and is keeping people up at night.
Oh well, time to go pick up dinner (too lazy to cook tonight, and the actual room service, i.e. delivery, takes about 2 hours…). I am getting Spaghetti Carbonara, woo hoo!
