Yesterday I got a call at around 1PM from fellow scuba diving medical (and vet) students about a night dive being planned for that evening. Since my tab at the dive shop has grown rather large, at first I declined. However after long periods of vigorous lobbying on their part, I finally acquiesced. The dive site was one that I had never been to before, named Valleys. It was a shallow (30-50ft) reef dive with, appropriately enough, various sand "valleys." Saw various fish (including these really tiny red fish with huge red eyes that I still have to look up in a fish ID book), eels, a stingray (that I managed to float right over almost without noticing, since I was concentrating on my buddy, who was giving me the oddest sign ever - tugging at his alternate air source hose. No he was not out of air, he wanted to indicate that he was feeling vibrations somewhere when he took a breath.) We also saw the hugest lobster that I've ever seen - at least 3 feet by 1 foot.
All in all, it was a nice dive. And I even managed to pick up coronaborealis up from the airport on time.
Today I did another "Discover Scuba Diving" dive (I am really getting practiced at these intro dives
) with her up to one of the shallower bays. It was a nice dive with a lot of fish, though a bit of work for me, since I ended up needing to hold on to her tank valve until she got her buoyancy under control. Oh well, another opportunity tomorrow
