Food Review: Not Dead Yet…


Gulasch

Tonight's dinner was a reminder of home… something typically German (or Hungarian) - Gulasch (the real kind, not that fake Italian stuff), Sauerkraut and Bratkartoffeln (pan-fried potatoes). More like home would have been mashed potatoes, but I don't have a masher :-(

As for the food, it wasn't bad - better than the presentation :-) Meat was kinda chewy - I am not sure if that was due to quality of the beef, or the fact that my stove only has one setting - boil. (When the instructions said to simmer over low heat for 1 hr.) And I am not dead yet, so I guess eating the slightly old potatoes was ok… Though I am getting a stomach ache now, which could be from the fact that I used too much oil to fry the potatoes… Well, it's Pepto time! (Or actually much cheaper generic version…)

mom: i think you´re lying about the liver. i also remember you trying to smother salmon with cheese and i still had to plug my nose to eat it…strange since i love it now:-)

Cathie, does Gulasch even sound remotely Italian? Come on, look at it, no vowel or anything at the end. Just strikes me as kind of odd to “borrow” the name of some food, then then apply the same name to something else…

But I like most Italian stuff… and I eat a lot of it down here because pasta is cheap… Hmm they have beer belly, but do they have pasta belly? I mean with all those carbs and all…

Ha ha ha :lol: That’s an interesting phraseology… So do you actually know German, or was that Google/Babelfish? :-)

And answer your question, no, the bismuth subsalicylate took care of it just fine :cool:
