First Day of Classes

So I made it through my first day of classes… Two hours of Neuroscience, then two hours of Physiology. Neuro handed out a large packet of lecture notes that was around an inch and a half thick - and that only covers until midterms! Today's lectures included an introduction and neuroimaging (CT scans/MRI's)… Wasn't too bad, but kind of an odd topic to start off with. Oh and they have a German phrase of the week. Today's was Viel Erfolg. Now if only those were bonus questions on the test.
Physio was nicer and will be handing out lecture notes on a weekly basis so at least it seems more managable. In class today we went into the basics of homeostasis and reviewed some chemical messenger systems that we learned last term in Biochem. So reading tonight shouldn't be too bad.
Well, gotta run and get my vehicle registered before the office closes.. (Today is a half-day holiday.)

sounds interesting…thought i had my schedule set for the fall, but, alas, i’m missing some prereqs for one of the classes. back to the drawing board! gotta see if i can keep my 2 days off/wk.

Why do you get a German phrase of the week? Sounds like you’ve got some fun ahead of you! Don’t get too stressed:-) I met the guy that lives in Biberach today and we went to Bombers. He gave me a lot of information and I’m really looking forward to going - just have a lot to get done before then!

Gabi Says:

Hey maybe there is extra credit for German students!

Carsten Says:

The entire Neurosci department is from Germany, so I guess they wanted to teach people German too. Hopefully it is extra credit on the tests! (well actually they have one Canadian that just joined this term, so she isn’t doing any teaching.)

Carsten Says:

Alana… must be nice to have 2 days off a week… ah undergrad… but all those prereqs and figuring schedules out sucks… that’s the nice thing about med school… your classes are all set…

Carsten Says:

No, sorry no jobs… You have to be a PhD or MD to be a professor…

Sonja Says:

How about any research positions? I’m gonna need a nice place to work after I get back from Germany…no sense in going back to school in some city with Rochester weather too soon

Carsten Says:

Ha ha… Sorry I don’t think so… the most they would have would be a demonstrator (tutor) for the Arts and Sciences students I think
