Exhausted.

I am just plain pooped. It's Carnival in Grenada, so there are plenty of things going on. Went out last night to the National Stadium with a few people for the National Panorama Competition. (Steel drum orchestras - Link is pictures from last year.) Yes, they really have entire orchestras (50-70 people playing 100-120 instruments) made up entirely of steel drums. Amazingly, it sounded pretty good…. each band played a popular song (most of which I could identify) and then a more traditional steel band song. Got to bed around 2 in the morning.
Then it was up early (8 am) today for day 2 of my Rescue Diver course. Today finished watching the video, then went into some of the practical exercises… And was it exercise!
Pulling people through the water while doing rescue breathing, removing gear, and oh yeah, trying to get to shore. Then trying to drag out an unconscious person unto shore. Hard work. I think I did ok, the only thing my instructor said is I need to hustle a little more, and act like it's a real emergency. Well, I guess with all those years of EMS/ED work, people unconscious/not breathing/no pulse just don't excite me anymore
After that I took the final exam, which I passed… even with my prior training/experience… (which made it harder, since I tend to read into the questions too much, or won't stop an assesment because a spinal injury is suspected.)
Just have one more final exercise to pass tomorrow, and I will be done with the course (Just in time before classes) ![]()
So tonight is the Carnival Douvee (sp?), which is some sort of party/parade? that starts around 3am. Don't know if I will make it up for that. Especially since I need to get up around 7:30am tomorrow… Oh well, I have been out every night this week, and I am exhausted. Time for a break. Need to conserve some energy for classes… (which is the reason I am here, is it not?)
