I’m Hot

So today was a pretty productive day… Started off the morning by sleeping in as much as possible… (till about 9am  - It was a late night last night - met up with some other med students who are here early and went out.) So this morning I met with the landlord, signed the lease and paid my first month's rent. In EC$, it was a lot of cash I had to part with :???:

Anyway after that, I gave a ride to a friend so he could shop for cars. Then to campus so I could meet Dr. Subba Rao (the faculty advisor for the Emergency Medicine Club, which I am the president of) to pick up keys and other goodies…. most importantly, a CD entitled '"How to be EMC President." I met up with the EMC treasurer there (who was here all summer, uggh) and we ran some more errands… Picking t-shirts up, trying to drop t-shirts off, food shopping, and some other random stops. After that I went to venture into St. George's "city." Had to go to the customs office to pay duty on the computer charger that I forgot at home and my parents nicely shipped to me.. (Thanks) I told them that I had already paid duty on it, since I was part of the computer that I paid duty for at the airport when I arrived here last term. I even showed them the receipt… but it didn't help. He just said I had to pay 11EC (about 3.50US) in duty since he had to deal with me. Am I really that bad a person? So after I had my official paid customs reciept, I could go to FedEx and pick up the package. However I managed to get lost, since St. George's is a bunch of 1-way alleys barely big enough for 1 car, and most of these one-ways aren't even marked. I just guessed based on which way the parked cars were pointing… I only guess wrong once  So I managed to find the place and get back in one piece, but not without some nice drug dealers asking me if I wanted anything, and a bum asking me for money. After that, it was off to the Housing Department to see if I could pick up my stuff out of storage yet. (They had been promising me since Tuesday.) They promised me the RA would be at the storage place from 3-7pm. Well since it was 4:30, I figured I was cool. Wrong again… When I arrived I found 3 other students waiting, but no RA. They had been waiting an hour already, and they were having a taxi wait for them to cart their stuff back. (Mucho moolah. ) Anyways, after another hour, someone finally shows up (only 3.5 hours late). Unfortunately, my box ended up on the bottom, and all the weight cracked the bottle of laundry detergent that I had in there, getting over everything and turning the box into a soggy mess that ripped all apart. Luckily I had a couple of extra boxes in the car, and I just transferred everything.. and luckily I had everything damagable in bags… so I don't think anything got ruined :-) After that I was off to the library for internet and email. Next is dinner — been so busy today that all I have eaten all day is 2 croissants with Nutella… mmmm… Nutella  Be on the lookout tommorow for reports of my Nitrox dive to the Bianca C.
Oh well, off to dinner

Hey be careful with the drug dealers! Can’t have you coming back and having to check into any recovery/treatment programs…especially not where I’m in charge:-P Sounds like you’ve had an interesting time getting reacquainted with Grenada. Have fun with the nitrox, and don’t get any nitrogen narcosis:-)

You should have been given the RA job and the cab bill for the other students would not have been so high.Hope you had a good wreck dive today.
