About the Site
I've had a website of some sort since 1996, when I first published on members.aol.com. (shudder) The site had more flashing .gif's, java billboards, and automatically playing midi's that you could handle. (double shudder) I then moved to Geocities before Yahoo bought it. (There is still an archive there of pages from 2001-2002 - my senior year in college, though all the pictures were deleted. 
) During college, since I had a static IP, I also experimented with hosting my own web, ftp, and mail server on my own computer under the domain cstracke.net. Unfortunately, those pages are lost to history, as my computer suffered a HDD failure, and I had no backup. (I was young and foolish.)
I started this blog in July of 2004 in attempt to keep my family updated on my daily life, since they are currently spread all over the globe, and this is a lot cheaper than international phone calls. Since then, the readership has grown to include people other than my family, so now I tend to post on all sorts of things.
The name of the blog was inspired by this post, and really because I couldn't think of anything else.
